Start of another season Fall '06

Well its that time again, the summer is officially over and football season is about to begin
across the US. Thanks to the NFL and their youth programs kids in Peabody don't just
have to watch their hero's on the big screen they can imitate them on the field in a positive
way.

This is the 6th season of PYFF and the 3rd time games have been played in the fall at
Emerson park. So whats different about this season you ask? Well we have 3 new age
divisions, the 5-6 division, 7-8 division and the 15-17 division. The age divisions are now
set up with fairness in mind as with a less of an age gap, the young 6 yr olds don't have to
go up against the old 8 yr olds anymore. For the older kids that had to give the game up
because they got to old can now play again in the very competitive 15-17 yr old division,
there are only 3 teams registered in this age division this season but in the spring this age
group will at least double as there is no other form of football around. Along with the
increase in age groups there has also been an increase in teams playing, the league has
grown from 38 teams last season to a staggering 53 teams this season!!!

This season's jerseys are the most stylish since the league began, with reversible team
colors, NFL logo badge on the front and side panels, all players are sure to look their best
this season on and off the field.

The league is also trying to spread its wings around the area with friendly and competitive
games against other leagues. To date Peabody teams have played in Wakefield, MA,
Roxbury, MA, Lynn, MA, Gillette Stadium and the Dana Farber field house, MA, Pelham,
NH, Giants Stadium, NJ and the World wide sports complex in Disney, FL. We will also be
holding the second annual tournament this coming June at Peabody Veterans Memorial
high school, last year Peabody teams played against teams from Wachussett, MA,
Plymouth, MA,  Rotterdam, NY and Syracuse, NY. This next tournament promises to be
even bigger with more traveling teams coming to Peabody.

We hope all parents, coaches and most importantly the kids have fun this season win or
loose and that New England's biggest youth flag football league continues to grow from
strength to strength.
