First Annual Summer Football Festival
Sunday June 18th, 9am - 6pm
Peabody Veterans Memorial High School
Fathers Day Football Festival tournament!!!
This past June 18th fathers from around the North-East spent part of their day watching
their sons and daughters have fun playing flag football. The tournament held at Peabody
High School was the first of its kind and proved to be very successful. Over 600 people
came through the gates on the day to check out the festivities including former Patriots
head coach Dick McPherson, 22 teams in three age categories competed in the event with
teams from Peabody, MA, Plymouth, MA, Wachusett, MA, Rotterdam, NY and Syracuse, NY.

The event started at 9:30 am with the 6-8 yr olds and the games were played on the high
school football fields. The Cardinals of Peabody took the title and were crowned champions
of the 6-8 category, the team also got to pose with the Patriots mascot and cheerleaders
for their team photo. In the 9-11 division it was the E.Wood Bears from New York that were
setting the standard on the day going undefeated to reach the finals and beating out the
Jets from Peabody in the final. In the most competitive division was the 12-15 yr olds; there
were 8 teams which included the Champions of the PYFF fall '05 season, the Champions of
the spring '06 season, the PYFF All-stars from '06, the E.Wood bears All-stars and the
Rotterdam champions. On the day none of the teams went undefeated and the Peabody
teams put on a good showing but it was to be the two teams from NY in the final and in the
end the Panthers of Rotterdam, NY defeated the Bears of Syracuse, NY.

Everyone that came to the festival received a mini football courtesy of Dicks Sporting
Goods and all championship and runner up teams received trophies. There were also
some great prizes raffled on the day such as the birthday parties to Full Blast and gift
certificates to Dick's Sporting goods.
