Coaches of the Season!!!
Why do coaches coach? Is it because of a love for the game? Is it because of a love for the
kids? Is it because they want to pass something on that was given to them? Who knows?
Every coach has their own reason's for coaching and each coach has their own strengths
whether it is in experience, knowledge, motivation, patience or respect, every coach brings
something different to the table. Some coaches are naturals with no previous experience
while others have been coaching for years. Peabody Youth Flag Football is lucky to have
some of the best coaches in all of sports in Peabody. With over 40 coaches in the league
every season brings a new challenge and for our 3 "coaches of the season" those
challenges have been met and overcome. Congratulations to Mr Hentosh, Mr Lomasney
and Mr Greenelee for becoming this season's "Coach of the Season"

Scott Hentosh                           Ed Lomasney                            Rick Greenlee
6-8 Cardinals                            9-11 Bengals                            12-14 Raiders

This is Scott's 3rd season coaching in the league and he has always taken his teams to the
wire. Scott has been coaching in Peabody for the last 15 years but has recently put his
efforts into coaching flag football. Every season Scott's teams are well organized, well
drilled and always ready for action!!!However his teams always show good sportsmanship
and respect for the other teams and he often lends a helping hand to other not so
experienced teams. Once again this season Scott's Cardinals reached the Championship
game but once again failed to take home the prize, dubbing him as the "Jim Kelly" of PYFF.
We hope that Mr Hentosh continues to coach in the league and one day find his pot of gold.

Mr Lomasney is the first coach in the history of the league to be awarded the coveted
"Coach of the Season" award after just one season. While his team did not make the
Championship game the Chargers finished the regular season undefeated and made it
though to the second round of the play-offs. The Chargers were playing together for the
first time under Mr Lomasney and had an average age of 9 1/2, playing against some more
experienced teams and some older boys the Chargers should be very proud of their
season and their coach. Mr Lomasney has excellent communication skills and he is always
in touch with his players and parents letting them know the latest developments in and
around the league. Every parent on the team made a point of letting us know how happy
they were with Mr Lomasney and that they hope all their kids can be on his team again in
the fall.

Last but by no means least Mr Greenelee has been coaching with the league for 4 out of
the 5 seasons that the league has been running. Mr Greenelee has 3 sons that play in the
league and since last fall he has been coaching teams in both the 9-11 and 12-14 division.
This season was his most productive to date as his Jets in the 9-11 division and his Raiders
in the 12-14 division both reached the finals. The Raiders unfortunately lost the
Championship game but for the first time since he has been coaching in the league his Jets
won the Championship game. Rick coached the All-star team that traveled to Giants
stadium last fall but this year he is really going to have his hands full with both of his teams
making the Championship game, both teams will be making the trip to New Jersey this
coming October. Rick stated towards the end of this season that he "had a lot of fun" and
that is what the league is all about.

Every year we try to educate the coaches as to what the league is all about and sometimes
the message gets lost in the heat of the moment. The league is not about winning games or
who scores the most TD's, it is about having fun, being safe, learning sportsmanship and
participating.

Well done to all the coaches of the season and to all the coaches of the league, every
season just gets better and better. The kids thank you, the parents thank you and i thank
you because without you this league would not be possible!!!
