Peabody Star Shines in Flag Football Finals!!!7/9/05

Shortly after wrapping up another successful season heading up
the Peabody Youth Flag Football league, Austin Bradshaw was of
to France to play with his British teammates in the European flag
football championship in Le Havre.
It was a hugely successful two-day tournament for Bradshaw and
the English team, which placed 4th out of 22 teams in its
division."thats the best finish we've ever had (at the European
championships) in our class" said Bradshaw, who played flag
football in England before coming over to America. He also
organized the Peabody Youth league, which just wrapped up its
third season.
"I left to join my teammates the day after our (Peabody youth)
season wrapped up with the 9-11 championships. Our only losses
were to the two teams that ended up making the finals".
Flag football teams from Germany, Holland, Spain, Austria,
Denmark, France, Belgium and England make up one class.
England got of to a great start with a perfect 5-0 record on the
first day of competition to earn the right to advance. After winning
its next 3 games, England then dropped 2 in a row. The
semi-finals pitted Bradshaws club against an under 21 team from
France, they defeated Bradshaws club 19-13. "We came so close
to being in the finals, but everybody was pretty please with taking
4th overall" said Bradshaw "it was a very well run tournament; i
had a great time, after running the program for the Peabody kids
in the spring, i needed to get back into the action".
Bradshaw is now back to work organizing a trip to Gillette stadium
July 30th/31st for the Punt,Pass and kick tournament. The
competition, for players aged between 8-15, will take place in
conjunction with the start of the Patriots training camp. Bradshaw
is getting 2 buses for the trip and has sent out letters to
everybody in the Peabody program.
