NJ Tournament!!!1/28/07
NEW JERSEY FLAG FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
5TH ANNUAL MEADOWLANDS INDOOR
YOUTH TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
This past weekend the New Jersey flag football association held its annual tournament in
the practice facility bubble of the New York Giants. Teams from NJ, NY, PA, CT, MA and FL
competed in the bubble for a chance to be crowned champions. In the end it was the MO
STEEL of Florida that defeated the NY Panthers in the championship game.
Only one team from Peabody made the trip to the Meadowlands for the tournament and
that was the Peabody Patriots girls all-star team which was comprised of Erika Weiser,
Filida Seeley, Samantha Famolare, Kenya McKeon, Emily Milewska, Brittney Creamer,
Deanna Moreschi, Mellisa Moreschi and Kayleigh Ryan along with coaches Brad Beausoliel
and Austin Bradshaw. The Girls played 3 games against all boys teams and unfortunately
did not record a win. They did come close however in their first game leading Atlanticare of
NJ 19-13 with 5 seconds remaining, but the boys from NJ scored on the last play of the
game leaving the girls with a hard to take 20-19 loss. After every game the teams
congratulated the girls saying they played very well and they didn't expect that kind of
competition.
On the day Kayleigh Ryan had 2 interceptions and Filida, Kenya and Brittney all recorded
touchdowns. The MVP of the team was previous MVP of the 2005 girls team that went to
Florida, Brittney Creamer. Brittney had over 100 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns on the
day and played very well on defense, congratulations Brittney. All the girls played well and
everyone was involved in the games throughout!!!
